The former home of the Asheville Gazette-News, the project was approved as a historic tax credit effort by North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Partnering with Black Mountain College Museum of Art, Beverly-Grant revived the ground and basement levels to provide new gallery and administration space for the museum. Efforts were made to salvage and restore the original flooring and decorative tin ceilings. Above the space, three apartments were created with renovations to the existing staircase, hallways, existing pine floors, and original five panel doors. Additional features included a new balcony space with views of downtown. Exterior efforts included pointing and repair of masonry, new windows and storefronts, a new roof, sprinkler system, and full plumbing/mechanical/electrical replacement. The project totaled 10,000 square feet.
